Omega J8004 Nutrition Center Commercial Masticating Juicer Review

Omega J8004 Juicer ReviewPossibly the most majestic model on the list, we had to include the Omega J8004. This dream machine is not only a fantastic juicer, but will also make nut butters, such as peanut butter, baby food, dips, such as salsa, milks such as almond or soy milk, and will even make spaghetti or breadsticks in seconds. Not only this, but the Omega J8004 is even capable of grinding your coffee beans and spices, as well as mincing herbs and garlic.

This truly is the best machine on our list, it seems a shame to simply call the Omega J8004 a juicer, since it has so many other functions, however, with juicing in mind it has the ability to squeeze all the juice out of fruits and vegetables, whilst ensuring that their nutritional value remains and pure colours are not compromised. Furthermore, after the fruit has been squeezed, the pulp then goes into a second stage, ensuring that every drop of juice is extracted for maximum efficiency.

Easy to clean and maintain, the Omega J8004 is the ultimate kitchen gadget.

  • Does a lot more than just juices – spaghetti, peanut butter, dips etc
  • Easy to assemble, operate, and clean

  • Not the most attractive design

Buyers Guide

So you’ve decided to dive into the world of juicing, but you’re still not sure what some of the jargon means, or what features are available? We’ve put together a buyers guide to help you to fully understand what you want and need from your juicer, so you can be sure that you’re making the most informed decision and can purchase the right model for you.

Make sure you get a juicer not a blender!

Juicer vs BlenderYou wouldn’t be the first to make this mistake, juicers and smoothie makers (or blenders) are completely different! Whilst a juicer squeezes and extracts only the juice, filtering out the pulp, smoothie makers and blenders simply liquefy the whole fruit or vegetable. The result is a much thicker drink which, whilst also can be nice, may be a bit of a shock if you just wanted a glass of pulp free orange juice!

Masticating  vs Centrifugal

Breville BJE430SIL ReviewCentrifugal juicers are definitely a good place to start if you are a newbie. With a lower price and often dishwasher safe parts, they make juicing easy and affordable. Centrifugal models often have multiple speeds for different types of produce and the size of the feeder tube can vary, so depending on the size you could potentially juice whole fruits and vegetables without the need to chop them first.

Centrifugal juicers have pulp collectors and you need to decide what type of collector you want, we recommend an external collector because that way if you are planning to make a lot of juice you won’t need to take your device apart in order to empty the contents of the pulp collector, simply empty the external collector and continue.

Often more compact, the centrifugal models are easy to store, and with some models even having compartments for the cable, they won’t make a mess of your cupboards.

Omega J8004 Juicer ReviewMasticating juicers are really a step up from centrifugal juicers. They require a bigger budget and more patience, but the end results are worth it. On average, masticating juicers manage to squeeze more juice out of your produce, so that you won’t need to use as much in order to make the same amount of juice, saving you money in the long run. They also function much more quietly than the average centrifugal machine.

These types of juicers do take longer to deliver the results however, which is how they  earned their other name as “slow juicers”. Masticating juicers can often do more than just juice however, with some having the ability to make pasta, nut butters and even milks such as almond or soy milk.

Another advantage that the masticating models have over the centrifugal models, is its ability to juice wheatgrass and other such produce which centrifugal juicers often cannot do.

Masticating models are a really good kitchen gadget, and if you are likely to use your machine often for more than just its juicing abilities, then spending a little more on one might be the right choice for you.

Unfortunately, though useful in many ways, masticating juicers are often not dishwasher friendly, and so you may have to spend a little extra time to make sure it is thoroughly cleaned by hand.

washing juicerDishwasher safe

Perhaps one of the most desirable features in any food related machine is the ability to break it down into parts and put it in the dishwasher to save on washing up time.

Most centrifugal juicers have dishwasher safe parts, whereas masticating juicers often need to be washed by hand.

All juicers need to be washed after every use in order to avoid buildup and clogging.

 Feeder tube size

Juicer Feeder TubeThe feeder tube is where you put the produce that you want to juice. Different makes and models have varying sizes of feeder tube, so it’s best to check the sizes before you buy. If your machine has a small feeder tube, then you will have to chop up your produce before you put it into the machine, however larger feeder tubes are often able to handle produce whole, which minimises time taken and washing up.

Masticating models all tend to have smaller feeder tubes and therefore need the produce to be chopped before the process can begin. They are also prone to clogging and it is therefore vital to ensure that you thoroughly clean the machine after each use and do not overload it.

That concludes our guide to the 5 Best Juicers 2017. We hope you enjoyed the reviews and have a better understanding of the different models and their features from our buyers guide.
